Fashion Merchandising

This course will introduce students to different roles and what to expect if they plan to start their career with an established retailer, or if they have recently started in a fashion buying or merchandising role and want to understand ‘best practice’. With the emphasis on larger retailers this course will help them understand what it takes to succeed as a buyer or merchandiser, and the many exciting and challenging aspects of the roles.

Eligibility

Fashion merchandising requires students to interact with a large number of people so the student needs to be confident and well versed in spoken English. The educational qualification for the course is 10+2 and the student should be ready to accept a challenging role in a large organisation.

Training Opportunities & Scope

Upon successful completion of the Course, students work across a wide spectrum of careers in fashion, working successfully and influentially to establish their own labels or to work as company designers, freelancers, and consultants or as journalists, stylists, photographers, illustrators, editors, and retailers.

Note: There’s a progression point at the end of this course and, in case students wish to progress to the second year (optionally advanced diploma), all units of the preceding year must normally have been passed.
